THE 2 OR 3 DAY WALKING HOLIDAY PACKAGE

The first night walkers stay in the Historic Shearer’s Quarters on the Gorringe farm before beginning their walk the next morning. Kawhatau Valley Walks suggest you arrive in the afternoon (preferably after 4pm), relax and unwind in preparation for the next day.

Day One:  The walk begins further down the Valley heading up on to hill country to a 200ha stand of native bush. You will then follow ridges with unbelievable views, past historic sites, and down winding tracks to spend the night at the Green Trout on the Rainey farm. This walk is about 18km, 6 hours approximately
Day Two: Starts from the Green Trout and heads up the valley across farmland towards the Ruahine Ranges. Returning through impressive bluffs or down the Kawhatau river for another night at the Green Trout. 5 hrs approximately (16km)
Day Three: Has several options: a) walk back over the farmland, approximately (10km) or b) you may choose to walk down the Kawhatau river bed (7km) or c) if you are particularly weary, a stroll down the Kawhatau Valley road.(5kms)
